New SACE Board website
The SACE Board will launch a new website in January 2010, with the same web address but a renewed design based on feedback from key users, especially teachers.
Benefits of the new site include easy and intuitive navigation, clear and up-to-date information, attractive design, and the ability to set up a web page with links to your favourite documents and resources.
With 2010 being a transition year for the new SACE, the website has been designed to help users quickly find information relevant to them. For example, information about teaching Year 12 in 2010 is clearly separated from information about the new SACE.
Navigation
If you are used to working with the old SACE Board website, some things have changed. Here is a run-down of the key sections of the new site.
The SACE
In the section called ‘The SACE’, you’ll find everything you need to know about the South Australian Certificate of Education. There is information on what the SACE is and how it works, all tailored to the reader’s particular needs, whether they are a teacher, a student, a parent, or an employer.
There are also details about the transition from the existing SACE to the new SACE, options for Vocational Education and Training, and advice about assessment and exams.
Subjects
The ‘Subjects’ area contains all the in-depth information you need to teach or study SACE subjects and other types of recognised learning.
There is a smart subject search, A-Z subject lists, and subjects organised by Learning Area, making it easier to find the information you’re looking for.
Once you have located the relevant subject, all the resources you need are at your fingertips, from key documents such as Subject Outlines and Learning and Assessment Plans, to Past Exams and Assessment Reports, and a range of Support Materials.
Subject pages also contain a link to each subject’s Online Forum, and contact details for the SACE Board staff member responsible for that subject.
Connect
‘Connect’ is home to all things interactive. These include:
- The SACE Board’s upgraded Online Forums (which replace the old ‘Online Communities’)
- Upcoming meetings, workshops, and consultations
- Online tools such as Completion Checker, the PLP software, Online Results Enquiry and DATEX Online
News
The new SACE Board website makes it easy to stay up-to-date on what’s happening with the SACE.
There are news boxes located across the site, ensuring the latest information is never far away.
The ‘News’ section collects all the updates together, and is also the place to go to find – and subscribe to – our new SACE Board e-news.
About
The ‘About’ area is home to the ‘nuts and bolts’. There’s information about the Board, its strategy, vision and policies. There is also information about the SACE Board office, staff, and positions vacant.
Help
If you need a hand finding your way around the new website, if you have a question, or if you want to get in touch with the SACE Board, the ‘Help’ section is never far away.
Among other things, ‘Help’ contains handy tutorials, Frequently Asked Questions, and a Glossary.
Online teacher forums
These are much easier to use than the former email-based system (formerly known as ‘online communities’).
Instead, you will be able to share information and views with other teachers via online message boards, similar to other web-based forums with which you may be familiar.
Message boards have been created for most of the former online communities. These include forums for each subject.
Your personal page
Once you have registered for the website, you can set up your own personal page with links to your key SACE information including subject outlines and support materials, and direct access to your online forums.
Registering is easy – just follow the simple instructions on the website. You will receive an email from us with your password.
Once you are registered, you will be able to create your personal page and sign up for the forums that interest you.
Need help?
We have designed the new website to be as user-friendly as possible, but if you have problems or can’t find something you need, the best place to start is our help pages. There you’ll find step-by-step instructions on how to use the new site features, advice about how to navigate, a site map and other useful information.
